Around four months ago, Flutter Kanpur started collaborating with TrackLeaf. What initially began as an opportunity to use TrackLeaf for managing our development work has gradually turned into a much more meaningful collaboration. Over the past few months, TrackLeaf has become a regular part of how we plan, organise, and manage our development at Flutter Kanpur.
As we work on different community platforms and products, keeping track of everything can become difficult. There are new features to plan, bugs to fix, UI changes, backend tasks, testing, reviews, and releases happening at the same time. Earlier, it was easy for information to get spread across conversations and different places. With TrackLeaf, we have been able to bring much of this work together in one place.
We manage our development cycle through TrackLeaf, starting from the backlog itself. Features and requirements are added as issues, prioritised, and then moved into sprints based on what we want to work on. From there, tasks can be assigned to contributors and tracked throughout development. Once the work is completed, it can move through review and testing before becoming part of a release. Having this entire process visible makes it much easier for our team to understand what is happening without constantly having to ask for individual updates.
For us, one of the biggest advantages has simply been visibility. At any point, we can look at the workspace and understand what is pending, what is currently being worked on, who is responsible for a particular task, and what has already been completed. It has made our development process more organised and has given the team a common place to look when we need to understand the current state of a project.
But the collaboration has not only been beneficial for Flutter Kanpur. Since we are using TrackLeaf as part of our actual development workflow, we also get to experience the platform in situations that are difficult to replicate through normal product testing. Real projects have changing priorities, growing backlogs, multiple contributors, frequent updates, and unexpected edge cases. Using the platform every day naturally helps us discover things that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Whenever we come across an issue, unexpected behaviour, or something that we feel could be improved, we share that feedback with the TrackLeaf team. Some feedback has been related to usability, while other feedback has helped identify issues affecting the overall stability of the platform. Because this feedback comes from our day-to-day development experience, it gives the TrackLeaf team a practical perspective on how the product behaves when it is being used by an active development team.
This has created a simple but valuable feedback loop between both teams. We use TrackLeaf for our work, we come across something that can be improved, we share our experience with the TrackLeaf team, and they can use that feedback to make the platform better. We then continue using the improved product and provide feedback as our requirements evolve. It is a very natural way for both teams to learn from each other.
Over these four months, TrackLeaf has helped Flutter Kanpur bring more structure to our development process, while Flutter Kanpur has been able to contribute to the stability and improvement of TrackLeaf through regular real-world usage and feedback. The value of the collaboration comes from the fact that it works both ways. We are not simply using a platform, and TrackLeaf is not simply providing a product. Both teams are actively contributing to the experience.
For Flutter Kanpur, having a proper system for managing development becomes increasingly important as we continue to build more products and initiatives for the developer community. TrackLeaf gives us a clearer way to manage our work and keep the development cycle organised, while our continued usage gives the TrackLeaf team an active environment in which to test, learn, and improve the platform.
Four months in, the collaboration has become more than just a partnership between two teams. It has become a working relationship built around actually building things, finding problems, sharing feedback, and improving along the way. We are happy to be part of TrackLeaf's journey and equally happy that TrackLeaf has become part of how Flutter Kanpur builds.
